READING THE BOOK OF First Chronicles CHAPTER Nineteen.

Our favorite verse in 1 Chronicles Chapter 19 is:

the Ammonite commanders said to Hanun, “Do you think David is honoring your father by sending envoys to you to express sympathy? Haven’t his envoys come to you only to explore and spy out the country and overthrow it?”(1 Chronicles 19:3 NIV)

Reflection

Secrets to give us victory

  • Identify with the pain of others.- David sent a diplomatic mission to the country of Ammon, to express sorrow for the death of King Nahash. Unfortunately this act was misinterpreted by the directors of the new king. As children of God, we must be the first to present our condolences to the family when a person dies. Visit homes to pray when someone is ill, when going through testing times, illness or pain.
  • Give no advice, if one does not have all the facts. The wrong advice can ruin lives permanently, break old ties of friendship, carry prejuiciarse by certain individuals, or truncate a promising future. Pray for divine wisdom when asked for an advice or opinion, our words are a balm or assistance leading to resolve problems.
  • Upon receiving a tip, consider the following. – Let us evaluate the advice received at the light of the Bible to know if biblical principles are respected. Compare with the advice given in the Spirit of Prophecy about the subject. And finally, exercise common sense to see if the advice is consistent.

Prayer.

Counselor, Father and Prince of Peace. We pray that our counsel may create bridges to restore broken communications. We ask to be used as instruments of peace, love and reconciliation. In the name of Jesus, amen.
