READING THE BOOK OF First Chronicles CHAPTER Five.

God wants to be our partners in life, He wants to grant us victories and success. He only needs for us to let Him do His part and have faith in Him.

Our favorite verse in 1 Chronicles Chapter 5 is:

They were helped in fighting them, and God delivered the Hagrites and all their allies into their hands, because they cried out to him during the battle. He answered their prayers, because they trusted in him. (1 Chronicles 5:20 NIV)

Reflection

Develop our faith in God as did the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Manasseh.

  • Fulfilling the divine mandate to possess the Promised Land the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Manasseh joined forces to expand their territory. They did two basic things: a) They prepared a strong army, it was trained in the use of all weapons and were skilled in battle, b) They were not onlyu confident in the strength of his army, but trusted God, the root word in Hebrew for the word trust is “rushing to cover”, but not so abruptly, because one rest secure in the support and security of God.
  • While in battle, they cried out to God. This is the balance that needs to be achieved in all aspects of life. First, prepare, train, train again and be proficient. Second, rely on God. When we pray, we must pray and ask for God to be gracious with us and to hear our prayers.
  • God answers. God helped and gave them a great victory. God delights in answering the prayers of His children. God surrounded them with His protection; He came to their aid, and give them victory because they depended on God. God and these tribes were allies in battle, He heard their prayer and granted them a great victory.

    Prayer.

Almighty God, you’re always ready to hear our prayers, we ask you to give us wisdom and understanding to be fit in our places of work or study. Remove our self-sufficiency and may we cry out for your blessings. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
