READING THE BOOK OF Second Chronicles CHAPTER Seven.

Our favorite verse in 2 Chronicles Chapter 7 is:

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.(2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV).

Reflection

Divine Counsel for Spiritual Restoration
  • Humble and pray.– The word itself signifies; humble and bend your knees, prostrate before God is to beg forgiveness. For many of us it is difficult to humble ourselves and recognize that we are far from God. Many of us may not want to humble ourselves before our spouse, parents, children, or colleagues to apologize for our mistakes. Remember these scriptures: For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted (Luke 14:11) Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time (1 Peter 5:6).

  • Seek God and turn from their wicked behavior.- To seek God’s desire or strive to know his will, is to investigate and inquire into His designs. This search must be accompanied with the decision to abandon our sinful life: No one feels that God has moved so far that it can not find it. Let’s enjoy this promise “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you seek me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13). God wants to restore us from our sins, but not when we are “in sin” and refuse to change our behavior. Ask for God’s power and strength to overcome any habit, inclination sinful or impure thoughts you may have.
  • The divine gift: forgiveness of sins.– When we humble ourselves, pray, seek God and forsake our wicked ways, God grants us his forgiveness. This forgiveness is for any offense committed, big, dirty and degrading. This forgiveness is free for us, but it had a cost for God, the life of his beloved Son. Thank God for this promise, we no longer cry or bemoan our past sinful life, thank God for His forgiveness and restoration.
