Our verse of reference in Esther 5 is:

“When he saw Queen Esther standing in the court, he was pleased with her and held out to her the gold scepter that was in his hand. So Esther approached and touched the tip of the scepter.” (Esther 5:2 NIV).

Reflection

Two lives in contrast
Historical commentary. – The painful moments experienced by the people of God in the time of Esther characterized not only then. The developer, looking through the centuries until the end of time, said: “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God , and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. “Revelation 12:17. The same spirit that in ages past led men to persecute the true church, will provoke in the future to pursue a similar course toward those who remain loyal to God. Even now preparations are being made for that last great conflict. The decree that will finally go forth against the remnant people of God will be very similar to that issued by Ahasuerus against the Jews. The reverence manifests God’s people for His law is a constant rebuke to those who have cast off the fear of the Lord and trample their Saturday. PR 444.

Haman was not happy with everything he had. – Haman had much wealth, for that reason wanted to give the king a large amount of money in exchange for that of the Jews. Furthermore, the Bible says that “Haman showed off his enormous wealth, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king” (verse 11), and despite all that abundance was not happy. Your happiness is focused on the destruction of Mordecai and the people of Israel. Are we unhappy at how little we have, instead of being happy with how much we have? What prevents us to be happy with what God gives us and bless?
Esther was pleased to serve.- Esther does not accept the generous offer of Ahasuerus receiving “half the wealth of the kingdom”, their priorities were different. Esther’s happiness lay in getting your people to be spared from death. The pleasure and joy of this queen, was centered SERVICE.
