Our verse of reference in Esther 9 is:

“as the time when the Jews got relief from their enemies, and as the month when their sorrow was turned into joy and their mourning into a day of celebration. He wrote them to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor.”  (Esther 9:22 NIV).

Reflection

Liberation.
Historical Review. – On the day appointed for destruction, “the Jews gathered in their cities throughout all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, to lay hand on such as sought their hurt: and no man could withstand them, because fear of them fell upon all people. “Angels excel in strength had been sent by God to protect his people as he was preparing” in defense of his life. “Esther 9:2 16. 443.PR PR 449.

Feast of Purim. – Last year I was in Jerusalem and I was privileged to witness the festival of Purim. It is a celebration of great rejoicing. People of all ages take to the streets of Jerusalem with clothes of different kinds, to express their joy. Like the Jews, we must get used to review the mercies and care that God has for us. Rejoice with praise, prayer and thanksgiving for their care.

Prepare ourselves with prayer to withstand another decree. – The decree that will finally go forth against the remnant people of God will be very similar to that issued by Ahasuerus against the Jews. Today the enemies of the true church see in the little group that observes the Sabbath commandment, a Mordecai at the door. The reverence manifests God’s people for His law is a constant rebuke to those who have cast off the fear of the Lord and trample their Saturday. Satan will excite indignation against the minority that refuses to accept the customs and traditions. PR 444.
Prayer

Our Father which art in heaven. We praise your name because your mercy to your people through history. Intercede for your children who are suffering persecution by name in their homes, jobs, and in some countries. It tests us closer to your throne of grace. By jesus, amen.
