Our verse of reference in Esther 9 is:
“as the time when the Jews got relief from their enemies, and as the month when their sorrow was turned into joy and their mourning into a day of celebration. He wrote them to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor.” (Esther 9:22 NIV).
Reflection
Feast of Purim. – Last year I was in Jerusalem and I was privileged to witness the festival of Purim. It is a celebration of great rejoicing. People of all ages take to the streets of Jerusalem with clothes of different kinds, to express their joy. Like the Jews, we must get used to review the mercies and care that God has for us. Rejoice with praise, prayer and thanksgiving for their care.
Our Father which art in heaven. We praise your name because your mercy to your people through history. Intercede for your children who are suffering persecution by name in their homes, jobs, and in some countries. It tests us closer to your throne of grace. By jesus, amen.
