Our verse of reference in Ezra 1 is:
“This is what Cyrus king of Persia says:
The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah.β (Ezra 1:2 NIV).
Cyrus.– At precisely the time when God had said he would rebuild the temple of Jerusalem, moved to Cyrus as its agent to discern the prophecies concerning himself, well known by Daniel, and induced him to grant freedom to the Jewish people. When the king saw the words foretelling, more than one hundred years before he was born, the way Babylon was taken, when he read the message she gave him the Ruler of the universe: “For the sake of my servant Jacob, and Israel my chosen, I have called you by name, I have surnamed thee, though not known me “when he read in the inspired record,” I woke up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city and set my exiles free, not for price nor reward “(Isaiah 45:5, 6, 4, 13), his heart was deeply moved and decided to fulfill the mission that God had given him. She would go free Jewish captives and help them restore the temple of the Lord. PR 408, 409.
The time of God.– It takes great faith to understand the “times of God.” Most believers urge God to answer our prayers. However, in this first chapter we see that when God has your meeting time, to pagan kings are impressed by the Holy Spirit to do his bidding. TRUST IN THE TIME OF GOD! worth the wait punish faith.
God, Creator of time. Thank you for starting to read the book of Ezra. We praise your name, for everything is under your feet, and your designs are met. Let us understand your times. By jesus, amen.
